LMR Homebrew Centipede

This looks very cute. Almost like a real living creature, simply because it moves so... clumsy. Sweet, sweet robot.

Chi Chi Cyborg: Annoying robot story

Well, okay. Robots can be annoying. Especially if they are discriminated by their lack of sense of taste.

The Path of the Roomba

Roomba dust-cleaning robot is not only practical at home. This long time exposure of a Roomba in action shows the - let's name it - mystical side of the robot. Signaltheorist took a Roomba, closed all doors, shut off the lights and made a picture of the robot in action for 30 minutes. Egypt and pyramids anyone? Or better star-system and galaxy-maps?

Social Robot Experiment: Tweenbots - "Help me!"

A cute and refreshing robot experiment was done by New York student Kacie Kinzer, studying at the Tisch School of Arts. Her concept is revolutionary simple and brilliant at the same time. In her exploration of pedestrian walks she wondered, how humans would react on robots: "Could a human-like object traverse sidewalks and streets along with us?" And developed the Tweenbots.

Tweenbots are human-dependent robots that navigate the city with the help of pedestrians they encounter. Rolling at a constant speed, in a straight line, Tweenbots have a destination displayed on a flag, and rely on people they meet to read this flag and to aim them in the right direction to reach their goal.

The robots are pure simple from a technical point-of-view, but are instead social engineered. They look so adorable and having the flag saying "help me", most people cannot resist to interact with them.

Best is, the experiments will continue. Right now Kacie is planning new robots. Just take a peek at the new robots coming up. They look like this:

The Sea Robot Of Love - Demos from Orange

This may be a little bit off topic, but nevertheless is quite inspiring. I just found this 14 year (!!) old demo from Orange. It is an 64k intro and has really interesting graphical effects as well as a special message for all the robots out there.

Orange - The Sea Robot Of Love (1995)

This is the follow up from 1996:

Orange - You am I You am the Robot (1996)
